Alabama Lemon Law Attorney

Sometimes a purchase simply leaves a sour taste in your mouth, especially when that purchase is a brand new car that just won't run. For this very reason, many states have created what they appropriately call lemon laws. Lemon laws are statutes that allow buyers of new or used vehicles to sue manufacturers, when a vehicle they purchased proves to be defective.

The lemon laws also give manufacturers a reasonable amount of time to correct the problem. However, each state has its own definition of what constitutes a reasonable amount of time. In Alabama, the manufacturer has three attempts to fix your car and they can't keep it in their repair shop for longer than 30 days.

After the manufacturer has had a reasonable opportunity to repair the vehicle, you're required to send a certified letter to the manufacturer informing them of your intention to file a claim. The manufacturer then has one final chance to repair the problem. If the manufacturer has an internal dispute resolution process, you are further required by law to adhere to their procedures.

Unfortunately, the lemon laws are different in every state. Therefore, you should consult with an attorney in your area before you file a claim. He or she should be familiar with the specific rules.

If you reside in the "Yellowhammer State" and are in need of an Alabama lemon law attorney, we surely hope you call on us. We are the law firm of Lewis & McAtee, PC and we're well-versed in Alabama's lemon laws. Call us today so we can discuss your options.
